BIJZONDER BAROK
Bach, Vivaldi, Telemann

In this program, we celebrate the music of three geniuses—Bach, Telemann, and Vivaldi—who were connected in various ways throughout their lives and work. Bach’s Art of Fugue is interwoven with the vibrant Concerto Grossi by Vivaldi and the exuberant Overture-Suites by Telemann. All of this comes to life in Black Pencil’s unique instrumentation of recorder, panflute, viola, accordion, and percussion.

FAREWELL FUTURE, WELCOME WORLD
A co-production of LeineRoebana and Black Pencil

LeineRoebana presents the final part of their Indonesia trilogy: Farewell Future Welcome World. Inspired by the personal memories of Harijono Roebana, this performance weaves together Indonesian and contemporary dance and music with curiosity, as a search for self-understanding and shared humanity in a complex world. Music ensemble Black Pencil, gamelan ensemble Kyai Fatahillah, and composer Iwan Gunawan, together with LeineRoebana, explore beyond the concept of cultural identity as something to be defended, seeking instead the shared roots in wonder and creativity.
ELECTRIC DELIGHTS
Radical innovation.

Black Pencil invited composers to write with complete freedom for its unique instrumentation of recorder, pan flute, viola, accordion, and percussion. The challenge was: explore, experiment, and push boundaries to surprise the audience.
The result: Electric Delights. With virtuoso compositions from composers of various generations and nationalities, including Anthony Fiumara (Netherlands), Celia Swart (Netherlands), Igor Silva (Portugal), Akim Moiseenkov (Netherlands), Hugo Morales (Mexico), and Enric Monfort (Spain). Colorful, creative, innovative, and out of the box.
SUNFLOWER
Nature and Music
Let yourself be carried away by an enchanting program where old and new music bring nature to life. For centuries, composers have drawn inspiration from landscapes, the sea, and birdsong—elements that reflect the fragility and beauty of our environment. Sunflower explores this intimate connection between humans and nature through specially composed works for Black Pencil’s distinctive instrumentation. A musical journey that excites, inspires, and brings you closer to nature.
