SCHOKGOLF (SHOCKWAVE)
Family show 6+
Join us on an adventurous journey full of fantasy and music.
With humor and a touch of Alice in Wonderland, Ensemble Black Pencil, actress Yara Alink, and rabbit Marietje bring the story of Janna to life.

The water is rising, and fast. Janna and her parents must leave their land. Packed and ready, they board the boat that will carry them across to a new life. But to her horror, Janna realizes that her rabbit, Marietje, is not on board. Without a second thought, she jumps back to the shore. And so begins a musical quest across her homeland to find her beloved rabbit.
Along the way, she visits places from her past, encounters a woodworm, a herring king, and the lighthouse keeper’s cat, until, after a dive, she finally ends up in the land of the future, reunited with Marietje.
With plenty of humor and a touch of Alice in Wonderland, Ensemble Black Pencil, along with actress Yara Alink*, brings the history of Schokland to life through music.
Once an island in the Zuiderzee, now a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Schokgolf is a imaginative music-theatre performance about what happens when the climate is so disrupted that you’re forced to leave everything behind. It’s about saying goodbye to the old, making weatherproof plans for the future, the power of imagination, and the magic of music that can tame waves, make landscapes rise to the sky, and package beautiful memories so you can never lose them.
* From summer 2025, the role of Janna will be temporarily performed by actress Marieke Giebels.
